16.11 Picnic Day 1
The destination of our school picnic was Tai Mei Tuk this year. Tai Mei Tuk is a small village of Tai Po District. Let me tell you something about Tai Po here. Tai Po is a developing new town situated in the centre of the New Territories. Many buildings were constructed recently and it has become a town with abundant facilities. In the early years, many residents settled in Tai Po. Therefore, the old historical Chinese buildings and villages have been kept the same. After many years of development, Tai Po has evolved into a town with an Industrial Estate and many modern residential buildings and plazas. Tai Po is separated into several important areas, including Tai Po Market, Tai Wo, Tai Po Old Market and Tai Po Industrial Estate. The popular attraction in Tai Mei Tuk is Plover Cove Reservoir. That's also the place we're going to visit. Let's take a Citibus to go there. The number 3 bus was waiting along Tin Hau Temple Road. | |
Here is a map of Tai Mei Tuk. You can see a long line crossing Plover Cove. That's the dam. We had Para Para dance there. |

Citibus this time provided us with 4 Leyland Olympian Coaches. The first impression was not good as the buses were too old and the compartment had a bad smell. All 5Aces queued and got into the bus one by one.
All 5Aces occupied the lower deck of the bus. Unluckily, I didn't have a seat as the 41 seats were all occupied. I stood and had a chat with them. Some of them sang along on the way to Tai Mei Tuk. They were so crazy that they could sing a wide variety of songs, including children's songs, TV drama songs, classic songs in the 1970s and even hymns! I appreciated Pinky and Brian very much. Pinky sang like Francis Yip (葉麗儀). She sang, "過馬路要小心......" Brian even recalled the Goodway Electrical Products jingle, "燙燙燙呀. 燙燙燙燙燙......" He really acted like Auntie Goodies (好姨). The bus was filled with tremendous laughter!
